Message from the
Editor:
Working on these booklets have been a very
personal project for me. A number of years ago, our own neighborhood
was infected with methamphetamine. As a husband and the father
of a four year old daughter, the criminal activity that accompanied
the drug distribution in our neighborhood was frightening.
Initially, I believed the responsibility for closing that
drug house rested squarely on the shoulders of local law enforcement.
The more we worked with the Sheriff’s Department and
the Snohomish County Regional Drug Task Force, the more I
realized that ordinary citizens like you and me are pivotal
to reducing illegal activity in our neighborhoods. When I
stopped expecting everyone else to solve the problem and became
a working part of the solution, my frustration was greatly
reduced and the drug house was finally closed down. We live
in a consumer based culture. Grocery and discount stores are
open 24 hours a day to meet our every need. There is an expectation
that if a problem arises, someone else should fix it! This
book is dedicated to people... like you... who have woken
up to the fact that there is a problem in their neighborhood
and they are willing to partner with law enforcement to make
their world a safer place.
Sincerely,
Travis Talbot
