What Do You Do?
by Travis Talbot

Decide that YOU are going to be involved in the solution you are looking for! You and your neighborhood working together with law enforcement have the opportunity to reduce drug related criminal activity in your neighborhood! It takes hard work and a great deal of patience, but you will feel safe again. The criminal justice system is in place to be the remedy for situations like the one facing your neighborhood. There are specific due process requirements for investigations, arrests obtaining search warrants, prosecutions, and civil abatements. Working together with law enforcement is the most productive focus for your crime fighting activity.

Call Lead On America to Schedule a Neighborhood Meeting Invite everyone living near the drug house and any law enforcement officers you have been working with. This meeting is primarily to gather and share information. Have someone act as secretary to record information, pass around the sign-in sheet, and distribute materials. Following the introductions, neighbors will be asked to share illicit activities they have observed and give detailed information about any contact they have had with law enforcement. Make a list of deputies who have responded to neighborhood complaints.
